"You are loved"
I saved 9 cents per ounce on this box of Cheerios. 9 CENTS!!! Think of the SAVINGS!
The wave of 'we're all in this together' PR treacle, spewed by every corporation and their mother during the pandemic, has (to my perception) ebbed. Its strain of toxic humanism, as the natural evolution of co-opted social justice movements in the late 2010s (God really gave one of His toughest battles to Kendall Jenner, huh), tried to appeal to a general 'we' that #BlackLivesMatter and #NoDAPL could not.
The appeal failed, all the same.
Over the past several years, festering consumer cynicism has gone gangrenous, past the point of no return. Public sentiment is so far gone that US companies, emboldened by the current administration, have dropped the facade entirely—even Kendall's handler, PepsiCo!
How can we, as consumers, NOT be cynical?
...
9 cents off, you say? Per ounce?
...
I'm LOVED?!?
Well I'm flattered, Cheerios, but buy a guy a drink first. Preferably milk.
...
You want to show me your backside? Uhhhhhhh...
"Daily Affirmations"
...
Well yes, I am a little disappointed. I was hoping for a maze, or some fun facts.
...
Look, I'm sorry. Your affirmations are nice, if a little trite. It's just that, well, sometimes I wonder: ¿SOY felíz?
...
You're right. How can I NOT be felíz when I'm reducing my risk of heart disease and saving 9 cents per ounce? Consider me affirmed.
...
Wait, you know Kendall Jenner? What a small world.
